Greg Valyou

CEO & Managing Director

Greg Valyou is the strategic engine behind Rock Pine Partners. A trusted C-suite executive, advisor, consultant, and executive coach, Greg is known as a builder who creates momentum by delivering high-impact outcomes across startups, fast-growing SMBs, global enterprises, and government organizations. He specializes in turning complex challenges into strategic solutions that get executed — that second part matters to Greg!

Across 25+ years leading Rock Pine Partners, Greg's work has generated over $1.85 billion in cumulative ROI for clients, earning him trusted roles advising some of the world's most recognized brands. Greg has also played a leading role in multiple exits, acquisitions, and equity events totaling nearly $1 billion. With hands-on expertise building, preparing, and positioning companies to maximize transaction value ahead of a sale — leading due diligence and driving post-merger integration to unlock their full potential. Anticipating change is central to how Greg works. By spotting emerging trends, market shifts, and disruptive forces early, he converts them into strategic and operational advantage clients can capitalize on. In 2019, well before AI reached most senior leaders' agendas, he published Artificial Intelligence: Get Ready for Tomorrow through B&N Press. That same forward perspective carries into the boardroom, where he has helped both for-profit and nonprofit boards prepare for what's next — and he writes and speaks frequently on strategy, AI, innovation, and leadership. Greg continually invests in his own learning and growth. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University at Albany and an OM-MBA from the University at Buffalo, and has completed executive certification and diploma programs at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, Emory University's Goizueta Business School, and the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. He is a certified PMP (Project Mgmt. Professional), PSM (Professional Scrum Master) and even has behavioral certifications as a CDPA (Certified DISC Profile Analyst). Following his recent fractional executive tenure, a client established the Greg Valyou Award for Excellence — an annual honor recognizing employees who embody the standards he modeled every day: integrity, collaboration, adaptability, and exceptional service. These qualities helped drive rapid growth and value based outcomes for clients and the firm alike. Despite these accomplishments, Greg remains a humble leader — and is likely a bit uncomfortable reading this introduction. As COO I own responsibility for the website - so I can boast a little for him :) - Lori

"Greg's professionalism and his ability to communicate effectively with all the team members, other teams, and with our international business units was invaluable to the success of our project. His positive attitude and energy is contagious. It is a pleasure and an honor to work with him and any firm would be lucky to utilize his services."
